Demodicosis is a parasitic infestation caused by a microscopic mite of the Demodex genus that affects the skin of the face and eyelids. Demodectic mange is transmitted communicably or through a household contact method. It spreads through towels, bed linen, dirty hands etc. There is still no unified theory as to why inflammation occurs and parasites begin to multiply rapidly. The accession of a secondary infection significantly worsens the course of the disease.
